FRIEDRICHSDORF, Germany -- MAXON, the leading developer of professional 3D modeling, animation, painting and rendering solutions, and AMD have reached a licensing agreement for the use of AMD’s Radeon ProRender technology in MAXON’s powerful and intuitive Cinema 4D application. Radeon ProRender’s physically-based GPU rendering engine is built on platform-agnostic OpenCL architecture and will provide outstanding performance on both Mac and Windows.

Radeon ProRender (formerly previewed as AMD FireRender) is part of AMD’s GPUOpen initiative which provides developers with open-source technology to leverage GPU computing. Radeon ProRender is a state-of-the-art unbiased path tracing renderer and physically-based material system. Written using OpenCL, Radeon ProRender can run on virtually any hardware. Radeon ProRender also provides a CPU backend which means Radeon ProRender can run on GPU, CPU, or a combinations of multiple disparate GPUs.

“MAXON is committed to empowering designers on all hardware platforms and operating systems. Radeon ProRender provides creatives with an efficient and intuitive solution to share their artistic vision,” said Oliver Meiseberg, Director Product & Partnership Management at MAXON. “We’re excited to deliver an outstanding integration of Radeon ProRender within Cinema 4D, and to contribute our own rendering expertise to the open-source project.”
