The Toronto Animation Arts Festival International (TAAFI) returns April 8–12, 2026 at TIFF Lightbox, bringing together global creators, studios, and audiences for a five-day celebration that showcases more than 100 animated films with expanded industry programming and career development opportunities.

The festival presents a broad international selection of animated works alongside programming designed to help creators navigate a competitive and rapidly changing industry, with a focus on access, education, and professional connections.

“The animation industry is evolving quickly, and creators need more than exposure to succeed,” said Louis-Philippe Vermette, Co-Chair of TAAFI. “TAAFI is designed to connect artists with real opportunities, practical knowledge, and the people who can help move their careers forward.”

This year’s lineup of speakers includes Bobby Chiu, Suzanne Wilson, Mark Edwards, and Nic Cabana of Claynosaurz, reflecting the festival’s emphasis on both creative and professional development.

Positioned as more than a traditional film festival, TAAFI continues to expand its role as a meeting point for the global animation community, combining storytelling with professional opportunity through an integrated “mega fest” structure that includes:

  • A film festival spotlighting global animation talent
  • The Toronto Animation Industry Conference (TAIC), featuring panels, talks, and workshops
  • Networking events and job opportunities connecting artists with studios
  • Signature programs such as Perfect Pitch and Speed Pitching, offering direct access to decision-makers

The Toronto Animation Industry Conference anchors the professional programming with two days of curated sessions that bridge the creative and business aspects of animation, gaming, and visual effects, while offering targeted networking opportunities with industry leaders.

Programming also explores emerging technologies and creator-led ecosystems, including discussions focused on AI tools and artist-centered strategies shaping the future of animation.

Founded as a not-for-profit organization, TAAFI has grown into an established presence on the global animation stage, describing itself as a “local reunion for global animation,” with its combined festival, conference, and career initiatives supporting discovery, collaboration, and emerging talent.
