Warner Bros. has tapped Jorge R. Gutiérrez (Maya and the Three, El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera, The Book of Life) to direct a Speedy Gonzales animated feature, AWN has confirmed with the director after it was first posted by The Hollywood Reporter.

Plot and creative team details are still under wraps.

Gutiérrez took to Instagram last month to tease the project with the caption, “Guess what movie I might be developing at Warner Brothers Pictures Animation…” And now we know for sure…

The sometimes controversial Looney Tunes personality first debuted in the 1950s, and is known for his speed, wit, and charm. Gabriel Iglesias voiced the mighty mouse in the recent Space Jam: A New Legacy.
