The Third WinFemme Film Festival

The Third WinFemme Film Festival celebrates films, videos and screenplays that feature female protagonists. The Women's Image Network (WIN) organizes the event. From WinFemme 1999 and 2000, five films were sold to Sundance and Showtime and several films have won both Oscar and Independent Spirit nods. Twenty films will be features in a "Best Of The Fest" screening, which traveled to six other major U.S. cities last year.

The RESFEST Digital Film Festival promotes innovative films from independent filmmakers, empowered by the use of digital production tools. The event contains feature films, shorts, music videos, panel discussions and hands-on demos of digital filmmaking tools. The submission fee for early entries is US$15 and $20 for late entries. The Consumer Electronics Association (C.E.A.) and JEDEC issued a call for speakers for their new conference, EdgeTech: Emerging Technologies Showcase, featuring the latest semiconductor and consumer technology. EdgeTech will consist of three tracks, the first educating attendees on how to build the technology, the second explaining how to produce and sell the technology, and the final track showcasing technology in the marketplace. Companies can also display new technologies recently available on the market in five-minute demonstrations.

The Arts Alliance Center at Clear Lake and The SAIC Digital Arts Lab is hosting the 3rd Annual International Science & Technology Digital Art Competition. Science submission themes should reflect subjects related to the sciences, i.e., physics, biology, paleontology, astronomy, geology, etc. Technology submissions should reflect subjects related to engineering, i.e., structures, vehicles, computers, industrial design, etc. Animations should be submitted in .mov format, with a pixel size of 320 x 240, on disk or 1/2" NTSC videotape.
