‘Zootopia 2,’ ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ Take Home BAFTA Wins

Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Frankenstein’ also nabs awards at yesterday’s 2026 EE British Academy Film Awards gala, along with ‘Boong’ and ‘Two Black Boys in Paradise.’

Jared Bush and Byron Howard’s box office smash Zootopia 2, along with James Cameron’s slightly smaller - but still big - box office smash, Avatar: Fire and Ash, were two of the winners at last night’s 2026 EE BAFTA Film Awards, in a ceremony hosted by Alan Cumming at The Royal Festival Hall in London. The Disney animated film, known as Zootropolis 2 in the UK, took home the award for Best Animated Film, while the Avatar sequel won for Best Special Visual Effects.

Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein took home three awards, including Best Production Design, while Lakshmipriya Devi’s Boong won for Best Children’s & Family Film and Baz Sells’ Two Black Boys in Paradise won for Best British Short Animation.
