The KLDW Festival is the first mega Creative Event of its kind to be organized in Kuala Lumpur. To be making its inaugural mark in KL soon, KLDW 2009 promises a wide mix of creative thoughts and eclectic ideas, of imaginative programs and inspiring showcases, plus loads more under one grand event of "Show + Shine", to showcase what we don't have, and to enhance what we do have.
After the success of 2008 (over 230 participants, 115 registered companies and 18 exhibitors), the second edition of the Kids Licensing Forum, an event entirely devoted to the children's and teenagers' content market in Europe, will be held on Thursday March 26 in Bologna.
The Forum will take place during the Bologna Children's Book Fair, scheduled from March 23-26, 2009. The Book Fair is devoted to the exchange of copyrights for children's and teenagers' contents and is attended by numerous professionals from the licensing sector.

The Cartoon Art Museum hosts MariNaomi, author and illustrator of ESTRUS COMICS, on Saturday, March 21 followed by Jimmy Gownley, author and illustrator of the popular comic AMELIA RULES! on Sunday, March 22 as part of its ongoing Cartoonist-in-Residence program. On Friday, February 27, Bitfilm will present its new Bitfilm Collection 03 in Tokyo. Following successful cinema screenings of the first two Bitfilm Collections in Berlin and Barcelona, this new compilation of outstanding digital animations will be shown to the public in Japan first. By March 3 the Collection 03 will be available online as download-to-own in DVD quality.
At the Super Deluxe Club in Tokyo all three Bitfilm Collections will be screened. Doors will open at 7 p.m., the screenings will start at 8 p.m. The entry fee is 1000 Yen.
Experimental animation was presented as fine art by its creators long before the art world acknowledged William Kentridge's work, the widely-accepted marker to distinguish animation a "legitimate" language in fine art. Looking beyond the constraining nomenclature of cartoon inherited from Sergei Eisenstein and forwarded by Gilles Deleuze and Rosalind Krauss, this panel visits an earlier history of art practice and critical thinking in experimental animation that was passed over by art history and then relegated to film history, where it was equally ignored.

The Cartoon Art Museum will present original works of art from The Totoro Forest Project Charity Auction, a once-in-a-lifetime exhibition featuring paintings, illustrations and sculptures from nearly 200 critically acclaimed animators, fine artists, cartoonists and illustrators. All of the artwork featured in the exhibition was inspired by Hayao Miyazaki's iconic animated feature film MY NEIGHBOR TORORO.
