TNT’s Alien Drama Adds to Cast
Drew Roy (iCARLY) and Peter Shinkoda (THE HOLE) have joined TNT's untitled alien-invasion drama pilot, notes the HollywoodReporter. The Steven Spielberg produced TNT project stars ER’s Noah Wyle as the leader of a group rising against alien forces.
Scott Officially on Alien Prequel
Ridley Scott will return to direct an ALIEN prequel for 20th Century Fox, reports VARIETY. Jon Spaihts, writer of the in-development sci-fi films Warner Bros.' SHADOW 19, Disney's CHILDREN OF MARS and Sony's ST. GEORGE AND THE DRAGON, will pen the script. He was hired after pitching his take on the film to producers Scott Free Prods.
Spielberg's Alien Pilot Adds Cast
Moon Bloodgood, Jessy Schram, Seychelle Gabriel and Maxim Knight have joined the cast of Steven Spielberg's untitled alien invasion pilot for TNT, per THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, joining already-announced star Noah Wyle.
The pilot, written by Robert Rodat and directed by Carl Franklin, follows a group of human survivors in the aftermath of an alien invasion that's wiped out most of the population. Wyle will play the leader of a ragtag group of soldiers struggling against the occupying alien force. The newly-announced actors will be members of that group.
VFX Vet Finds UFO Director's Chair
VFX sup Matthew Gratzner has taken a set in the director's chair for the feature film adaptation of the 1970s TV series UFO, VARIETY reports. Gratzner's f/x credits include the upcoming SHUTTER ISLAND, THE MUMMY: TOMB OF THE DRAGON EMPEROR, HANCOCK, IRON MAN and ALIEN: RESURRECTION.
The Robert Evans Co. optioned the property from ITV Global earlier in the year. Producers Evans, Henri Kessler and Avi Haas and Gratzner's New Deal Studios will produce the flick.
Sci Fi Brings Alien Cops Remake to the Air
Sci Fi is in development on a TV adaptation of 1988 feature ALIEN NATION, per VARIETY. The property was also previously a series on FOX.
Tim Minear (ANGEL, THE X-FILES, FIREFLY) will write the pilot, a fresh take on the franchise about a veteran cop and his alien detective partner. The series also focuses on alien newcomers who move to Earth and assimilate into society.

Shrek, Area 51 Writer to Pen Alien Zoo
SHREK, SHREK 2 and the upcoming AREA 51 writer Joe Stillman has been hired by Warner Bros. to script ALIEN ZOO, a live action-CGI hybrid, according to VARIETY.
WB and Unique Features partners Bob Shaye and Michael Lynne are producing with Dylan Sellers. The family comedy concept, from Sellers, is said to be JURASSIC PARK with aliens.
AREA 51, with Dwayne Johnson as a lead voice, will be released by Sony this fall. Stillman also wrote GULLIVER'S TRAVELS with Jack Black and PERCY JACKSON AND THE LIGHTNING THIEF to be directed by Chris Columbus.
Production Starts on Live-Action Ben 10 Movie
Production has commenced on BEN 10: ALIEN SWARM, a new live-action movie based on the hit animated series BEN 10 ALIEN FORCE that will premiere on Cartoon Network in fall 2009. The live-action movie will have principal photography in Atlanta, Georgia.

Alien Entomologist Gets Green Light
DEX HAMILTON: ALIEN ENTOMOLOGIST (26x30), a new animated comedy-adventure series about an intrepid young explorer, has begun production, with delivery slated for fall 2008. Australian commercial broadcaster Ten Network has already pre-bought the series.
Created by Matthew Fenandez, DEX HAMILTON is a Canadian/Australian co-production between Toronto- and Sudbury-based March Ent. and Sydney-based SLR Prods. Parthenon Kids is also a co-production partner on the series and will be distributing it internationally.
Tobey Maguire Gears Up for Robotech
Tobey Maguire and Warner Bros. will be producing a live-action adaptation of the classic anime series ROBOTECH, reports the trades. Maguire looks to star in the potential blockbuster as well as produce via his Maguire Ent. production co.
The 1980's mecha series was produced by Harmony Gold USA and Tatsunoko Prods. The sci-fi series followed Earth's use of alien technology to engineer giant robots to help fight various alien invasions.
Cartoon Network Invaded by Aliens in May
In May, Bloo, from FOSTER'S HOME FOR IMAGINARY FRIENDS, sends a message to deep space and ends up letting aliens loose on Earth and in Cartoon Network original series ED, EDD N EDDY, MY GYM PARTNER'S A MONKEY, CAMP LAZLO and THE GRIM ADVENTURES OF BILLY & MANDY. Alien-themed episodes will air throughout the month, beginning May 4, 2007, at 7:00 pm, culminating with an out-of-this-world alien invasion marathon on Memorial Day.
Alien Clones From Outer Space Invade On ABC Australia
The animated series, ALIEN CLONES FROM OUTER SPACE, is scheduled to premiere on ABC Kids in October 2008. Based on the humor books published by Simon and Schuster, the stories follow twins Barton and Nancy Jamison, regular 10-year-olds. SEGA & Fox to Hunt Alien Videogames Together

SEGA To Publish Next-Generation of Alien Syndrome
SEGA of America Inc. and SEGA Europe Ltd. will be publishing a new version of ALIEN SYNDROME, derived from the classic SEGA arcade game. Developed by Totally Games, ALIEN SYNDROME will launch simultaneously for Nintendo's Wii and PSP in Summer 2007. ALIEN SYNDROME features two fast-paced action-RPG modes -- single-player campaign, plus an infinitely replayable co-op multiplayer mode for up to four players.

Bandai America Inc. has seen big success with its BEN 10 toy line, based on the popular Cartoon Network series. Since its launch this past summer, it debuted as one of the top 10 action figure properties during the month of August, according to market information company The NPD Group (based on dollar volume in the Action Figures & Accessories Supercategory).
