The modern-day ‘continuation’ of Roald Dahl’s iconic story sees the famed candy man back in business after his release from prison; stars Kit Connor and Taika Waititi, with animation produced by Sony Pictures Imageworks.
Featuring a young version of the chocolatier played by Timothée Chalamet on his first fantasy confection journey, the upcoming flick debuts an extremely tiny version of the classic Oompa-Loompas, played by Hugh Grant.
The streaming giant unwraps the golden ticket, joining forces with the famed author’s IP rights company to create a unique universe across animated and live-action films and TV, bringing Dahl’s iconic stories and characters to more audiences in new formats.
The origin story boasts ‘Paddington’ director Paul King and ‘Harry Potter’ producer David Heyman and is slated to hit theatres March 17, 2023.
