Shoujocon 2003 is an annual Japanese animation and comics event celebrating women's contributions to these fields, and the women who enjoy such work. While shoujo (girls') and josei (women's) anime and manga (Japanese animation and comics, respectively) have been long enjoyed in Japan, these genres are quickly gaining popularity in the United States and elsewhere. Shoujocon 2003 is celebrating its fourth year as the first and the largest event dedicated to women's anime and manga in North America. The convention will continue to offer shoujo animation programming; workshops and discussions; and other events which not only entertain, but educate others about shoujo and josei and such genres have their own convention.
Full admission fee for Shoujocon 2003 is $45. The convention is currently offering pre-registration rates for interested attendees--much lower rates than full admission.
