Annie Award Volunteers Meetings

ASIFA-Hollywood is putting out a call for volunteers for the upcoming Annie Awards on Feb. 7, 2004. On January 8 at 7:30 pm, the ballot meeting needs volunteers to prepare the ballots for mailing. On January 14 at 7:30 pm, the Annies Volunteer Meeting will address event pre-production, which will include assistance with the program book, coordination of advertising, name badges, signage/layout, printing, juried award recipient coordinators and ballot coordinators.

The American Animation Institute is hosting a storyboard portfolio night. The guest artists who will critique portfolios include Linda Miller, Karl Gnass and John Fountain. The American Animation Institute was founded in 1980 by the Motion Picture Screen Cartoonists and Affiliated Optical Electronic and Graphic Arts, Local 839 IATSE, to further the art of the animated cartoon in the United States through educational and other activities.

Tools & Techniques Voice Over Workshop

Veteran Animator Heidi Guedel Onlien Chat

AnimationHQ is hosting a chat with talented and veteran animator, Heidi Guedel. She spent time at Disney, Don Bluth Productions and Warner Brothers. She has worked on many Feature Animation titles including The Secret of NIMH, The Fox and the Hound, An American Tail, and Quest for Camelot. In addition, she did character layout for Rough Draft Studios (Futurama), worked in multimedia at Vortex Media Arts, and worked on videogame animation for the classic 80's laserdisc games "Dragon's Lair" and "Space Ace".

The chat will take place on Saturday, December 6th at 8 pm EST.

Metacal Experiment

Metasin Productions is organizing the first Metacal Experiment. Artists can enter short films and videos; audio and silent films; animated and live- action pieces, all genres. The experiment will include live music, short films, standup comedy, visual art and dance. It is also looking for additional paintings, sculptures, drawings, individuals or groups wishing to perform original dance, comics, drummers/percussionists, bass players and Lighting designers.
