Adult Swim Debuts 2 New ‘Off the Air’ Episodes, Celebrates 15 Years

The network’s iconic, surreal anthology, created by SMALLS wizard Dave Hughes, returns with ‘Growth’ and ‘VR’ themed segments as it marks its first episode, launched January 1, 2011.

Dave Hughes’ seminal, iconic Adult Swim series, Off the Air, returns today with two new episodes as the show celebrates its birth 15 years ago on January 1, 2011. Hughes, who also created and curates the network’s SMALLS short film series, created the surreal anthology series that mixes various types of content, such as animation, music videos, clips, and viral videos, all based on a single theme, presented in a continuous stream, without explanation.

Today’s launch, with encore airings through January 2, is as follows:

Growth

Guest curated by Vernon Chatman (Shivering Truth, Xavier: Renegade Angel, Wonder Showzen, South Park), the episode features new work from artists including Jack Stauber, Cossa and Christopher Rutledge alongside classic pieces from Mirai Mizue, Kirsten Lepore, and Harrison Atkins, among others.

VR

Guest curated by Mike Diva (SNL digital shorts, YouTube) and Dimitri Simakis (Everything Is Terrible, Meow Wolf), the episode features new work from both curators, in addition to new commissions by artists like Nobey One, Thu Tran, Anonymoose, Luka Big Pants, Alfie Dwyer, Jimmy Screamerclauz, Kami EXP, and more.
