Women in Animation has just announced that applications are now open for the first WIA Portfolio Review session.
Reviews help connect members with recruiters and hiring managers for live, virtual review sessions. Selected participants receive actionable feedback that strengthens their portfolios and helps them stand out in a competitive field. The initiative also supports a stronger talent pipeline to support women and nonbinary professionals in animation, VFX, and gaming.
The inaugural Review will take place February 24 and be led by industry veteran Matt Roberts, Senior Artistic Recruiter at Walt Disney Animation Studios. Roberts’ review will focus on Character Animation, Story, and Visual Development. Applicants from these disciplines will be given priority for the session. Other industry experts will lead upcoming Portfolio Review sessions in varied disciplines from the animation, VFX, and gaming industries.
“This new initiative is more than a service; it’s a supportive ecosystem,” said WIA President Marge Dean. “For our members, it’s a direct path to growth, and for our partners, it’s a window to the talent of tomorrow. Applications close January 27. WIA members can apply to have their portfolios live-reviewed during the session. Professional reviewers will choose 5-6 portfolios. WIA members, whether being reviewed or not, can attend the session and will have the opportunity to ask questions at the end.
