Sola Media unveiled the new original song ‘Somewhere We All Belong,’ written by Warren and performed by Bailey for the upcoming 3DCG family feature, as international sales continue at Berlin’s European Film Market.
Germany-based distributor Sola Media has announced that the upcoming 3D animated family sci-fi adventure, The Crystal Planet, will feature “Somewhere We All Belong,” a new song written by Diane Warren and performed by Halle Bailey (The Little Mermaid). The announcement comes as the company continues international sales at the European Film Market (EFM) in Berlin.
The addition expands the film’s creative lineup, which already includes Academy Award-winning voice cast members Jeremy Irons, Vanessa Redgrave, and Michael York. Warren recently received her 17th Academy Award nomination and was honored with an Honorary Oscar in 2022.
Directed by Croatian filmmaker Arsen Anton Ostojic, The Crystal Planet is based on an original screenplay by animation legend Dušan Vukotić, the first non-American to win an Academy Award for animation. The story follows 11-year-old Rea, who moves with her father to a distant outer-space colony, where she discovers a mysterious animal cub and must protect it from an industrialist who intends to turn it into a robotic prototype.
“Diane Warren’s new song captures the emotional heart of The Crystal Planet in a truly powerful way,” said Arsen Anton Ostojic. Solveig Langeland, Managing Director of Sola Media, added, “Diane Warren has an extraordinary ability to create songs that resonate across cultures and generations.”
Production is led by Filmosaurus Rex, BFilm, and Alkay Animation Prague. Animation supervision is by Jakub Pištecký.
