The untitled animated feature film, co-directed by Yehudi Mercado, is based on his indie comic ‘Freddy the 13th.’
Paramount Animation has announced an untitled animated film directed by Dan Trachtenberg (Predator: Badlands, Predator: Killer of Killers) and co-directed by Yehudi Mercado, based on Mercado’s indie comic “Freddy the 13th.”
The project follows a family vacation that turns into a nightmare when fun Uncle Freddy accidentally kills the Boogeyman and takes on his powers. According to the studio, “This project taps into the zeitgeist-piercing appeal of horror through a medium that delivers wholesome PG-rated scares and laughs to the whole family.”
Trachtenberg and Ben Rosenblatt are producing the film. Details on casting, release timing and additional production creatives were not provided.
Paramount Animation, under the leadership of Jennifer Dodge, develops original films and tentpole IP for viewers of all ages. The division recently announced an animated feature based on CBS’ Survivor franchise, The Naughty List, an original Christmas film from Robert Rodriguez, and will release PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie on August 14.
