The 3DCG reboot of the classic American cartoon, which follows a fearless canine who protects the people of Capitol City, launches globally later this year.
DeAPlaneta Entertainment has teamed with SUPERPROD Group for Underdog, a 3DCG animated series reboot of the classic ‘60s cartoon.
Underdog is a fearless canine who protects the inhabitants of Capitol City from villains trying to take over the metropolis. The character's last screen appearance was in the live-action film distributed by Walt Disney Pictures.
“Underdog has all the qualities we look for in our series, with an ingenious and attractive concept that gives a different dimension to the figure of superheroes,” said Carlos Biern, content and media sales director of DeAPlaneta Kids & Family. “We are very much looking forward to sharing it with audiences, and we are also excited to be working again with SUPERPROD Animation, with whom we share a common vision of family entertainment.”
“Underdog aims to be the ideal introductory superhero for young kids: a delightfully goofy, genuinely kind dog superhero, backed by an awesome team, who takes on wonderfully mischievous, hilariously wicked supervillains,” added Clément Calvet and Jérémie Fajner, co-founders of SUPERPROD Group. “We're thrilled to team up again with DeAPlaneta Kids & Family to bring this fresh, super-powered comedy to viewers globally.”
The series was developed by SUPERPROD Animation and is produced in its Paris and Angoulême studios in France as well as Red Monk’s studios in Milan, Italy. Currently in production with Gulli/M6, Red Monk Studio, and RAI, the first season will consist of 52 11-minute episodes.
DeAPlaneta Entertainment holds the media rights for Spain, Portugal, and Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), as well as the merchandising and brand licensing rights worldwide, excluding the United States and French and Italian-speaking territories. SUPERIGHTS, SUPERPROD Group’s distribution arm, is selling other territories throughout the world. The series will launch globally later this year.
