The ‘Stranger Things’ creators are seeking an overall film and television agreement with the studio, focusing on tentpole films; will continue several projects in progress with Netflix.
Stranger Things creators Matt and Ross Duffer are in active negotiations for an overall film and television deal at Paramount, with a special focus on tentpole films, according to Variety.
If successful, the deal will reunite the creative duo with Cindy Holland, Paramount’s new head of streaming, who originally greenlit Stranger Things at Netflix.
Not all is lost at Netflix, however, as the Duffer Brothers still have projects in production with the streamer via their studio, Upside Down Pictures. Fans can expect the series The Boroughs and Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen to stream in 2026; a preview of the upcoming animated prequel Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 aired this past June in Annecy. A live-action Stranger Things spinoff is also in the works.
The eight-episode fifth and final season of Stranger Things hits Netflix in three drops, with Episodes 1-4 debuting November 26, Episodes 5-7 on Christmas Day, and the grand finale, Episode 8 on New Year’s Day.
