Exclusive: Watch ‘The Pout-Pout Fish’ ‘Introducing Cuddlefish Benji & Archie’ Clip

The two best, inseparable friends see their friendship put to the test as they learn about courage, loyalty, and heart in the new 3DCG animated feature from Viva Kids coming to theaters March 20.

Viva Kids has just shared an exclusive clip with AWN from their upcoming 3DCG feature, The Pout-Pout Fish, which hits theaters March 20.

The tale of two aquatic misfits on an impossible journey to save their home is based on the New York Times bestselling children’s book series written by Deborah Diesen and illustrated by Dan Hanna that has sold more than 10 million copies.

Featuring a star-studded voice cast including Nick Offerman, Nina Oyama, Miranda Otto, Remy Hii, with Jordin Sparks, and Amy Sedaris, The Pout-Pout Fish tells the “hilarious and heartwarming story” of an unlikely duo: Mr. Fish (Offerman) a pouty introvert and Pip (Oyama) an energetic sea dragon, who embark on a daunting quest to find a legendary fish to grant their wish to save their homes. Racing against them is a precocious teenage cuttlefish called Benji (Hii), as they call upon all the strength, friendships, and wisdom they’ve gained on their journeys to try to save the places that mean most to them.

In the clip, we get to meet Benji and Archie for the first time!

Ricard Cussó directs alongside co-director Rio Harrington. Cyma Zarghami and Madeira Ginley produce for MIMO Studios, alongside Like a Photon Creative’s Kristen Souvlis and Nadine Bates. The film is written by Elise Allen, Elie Choufany, and Dominic Morris. Cosmic Dino Studios handles the animation.

“The Pout-Pout Fish” series spans more than 40 titles and has sold over 10 million copies since its release in 2008. In addition to being a New York Times bestseller, “The Pout-Pout Fish” was named by TIME as one of the Ten Best Children’s Books of 2008 and received the Bank Street Award for Best Children’s Book of the Year.
