IBERMEDIA NEXT Announces 3.0 Call Winners

The new edition’s 15 selected projects were announced at MIFA during Annecy 2025; technology, diversity and risky narratives mark the new generation of winners.

During last month’s Annecy 2025 festival and Mifa, the IBERMEDIA Programme announced the 15 projects selected in the third edition of IBERMEDIA NEXT.

After being assessed by an Assessment Committee (Andrea Basilio, Andrea Cataño, Florencia Gasparini, Mariana Hidalgo, and Belli Ramírez), the winning projects were selected from 83 proposals. This decision was later endorsed by the Intergovernmental Council of the IBERMEDIA Programme.

The selected projects involve collaboration of 12 Ibero-American countries, and will receive economic support of up to €2,500,000, which includes direct aid of €150,000 per project, as well as indirect support in the form of personalized training programs, consultancy and participation in strategic markets.

Tagamanom. Mundo Oculto - OuO Time SL, Intifx Animation Studio SAS, Studio Z Design e Animaçao LTDA

Dayume, a Waorani girl raised in Europe, enters a spiritual world to save her family trapped in an ancestral ritual. Directed by Pere Clos and Diana Rodríguez, the project uses AI and Unreal Engine and combines traditional and 2D/3D technology.

Los Mukis - Apocalipsis Producciones SL, Desfase Films SAC, Tunche Films INC, Intifix Animation Studio SAS

Yaku, an Andean boy raised by invisible spirits, opens a portal to another dimension through an ayahuasca ritual. While the tourists are trapped, Yaku joins forces with Chakira, an astral warrior, to confront a new age sect and discover his true origin. Directed by Cecilia Sueiro and written by Nely Huayta, the project combines live action and CGI, and is supported by Blender, Runway, and Wonder Dynamics.

Nosé - 12 Pingüinos Dibujos Animados SL, Asociación Cultural Pataclaun, IntiFX Animation Studio SAS, Soda Producciones

Nosé, an adolescent girl who fails in a talent competition, discovers that her clumsiness and humour are her true strength. Directed by July Naters, the project uses Grease Pencil and Unreal Engine and combines 2D and 3D.

Urpi Y Ziggy - Lightbox Animation Studios SL, Intifx Animation Studio SAS, Apus Estudio, Estudio Lunes SPA

Ziggy, an extraterrestrial boy sent to Earth, and Urpi, a Quechuan girl who believes in the paranormal, confront a thousand-year-old sect that aims to hide the existence of supernatural beings. Pamela Chovan and Gabriel Bonilla direct the projet, which uses 3D and 2D effects made with Blender and Unreal Engine.

Olivia Y Los Misterios - Érase una vez Films SL, Juan Luis Carve Pascale “Chucho,” Chatrone Latam LTDA, Espacio Cultural de Animación Peruana

Directed by Valentina Echeverría and Juan Carve, the 2D animated film follows Olivia, a 12 year old girl who moves to a mysterious island and discovers that a volcano reflects her own inner grief. The film is made entirely in Blender.

Avispa Y Colibrí - Take It Easy Produções Audiovisuais LDA, Universidad de Guadalajara, Trazos Animación Guillermo Sainz “Waso”

Through the combination of digital 2D, stop motion, and mixed techniques, the project follows Keka, a pregnant slave in colonial Peru. Upon being sold, she flees and finds hope in the Tapadas Limeñas, a group of hooded women who fight for freedom. Aïda del Solar directs.

Santa Sombra - La Mola Films SL, Patricio Gabriel Plaza “Ojo Raro,” Fedora Productions SA de CV

Paula Boffo directs and adapts her own graphic novel into a 2D animated feature. Juana, a young woman from the mountains in north-east Argentina, makes a pact with two possessed “machetes” to rescue her sister from a human trafficking network.

La Venganza Rodríguez - Hampa Studio SL

The action comedy follows Leonora Rodríguez, a young woman who decides to avenge the fall of her father and brother, two wrestlers, who are humiliated by the feared Super Muerto Infernal. With a hybrid visual style between 2D and 3D, cubist influences, and comic aesthetic, the film directed by Jorge R. Gutiérrez reimagines wrestling from a feminine perspective.

Pinkooland - Vanova Films SLU, Mattegraphics CIA LTDA

Directed by Luis Usón, the 3D animation feature follows Kassy, an orphan who works in a park for bio-synthetic bears called Pinkooland. What seems to be a dream becomes a nightmare when she discovers that the Pinkoos are exploited and recycled alive.

Lily & Kyle - Mago Audiovisual Production SL, Alopra Estúdio, Apapacho Films SA de CV

The children’s series follows Lily, a sensitive little cloud, and Kyle, an emotionally reserved rock. Inspired by Shintoism, each episode is an exploration of feelings such as happiness, sadness and fear. Giu Nishiyama directs the project, which uses a 3D/2D mixed technique.

Lucila - Cornelius Films SL, Bernardita Ojeda Producción Audiovisual EIRL, Copa Studio

Directed by Bernardita Ojeda, this 2D/3D animation family feature film reimagines the childhood of Gabriela Mistral through Lucila, a marginalised girl who escapes to a magical world in which her words are powerful. There, together with a huemul deer and a Diaguitan boy, she faces her fears and discovers that to change reality first she must accept her voice. A story about resilience, identity and the healing power of art narrated through a traditional aesthetic made with own, open and replicable technologies.

Pido Pausa - Sardinha em lata Unipessoal LDA, Animaciones Salvajes SAS

The children’s series made with stop motion follows Cata, a girl who can stop time and escape to a world where all wishes come true. The project, directed by Rosario Carlino and Nicolás Conte, combines animation in plasticine with 3D backgrounds generated with Blender and Unreal Engine.

¿Hay Algún Muerto En La Sala? - Inaudita SLU, Sísmica Studio

In a village where nobody dies, its twelve inhabitants try to organise a funeral with no previous experience and without a real dead body. The costumbrist comedy combines 2D/3D animation and real images.

A Veces Silencio - Filmakers Monkeys SL, Carltz EIRL, Comercial Hamburgo LTDA

Silvia, a florist who silences everything she touches, and Marco, a musician without his own voice, live an impossible love story in Madrid in the 1990s. The 2D animation film combines magical realism with an inclusive commitment to the deaf community through the visual use of sign language. Directed by Álvaro Robles, it relies on a graphic style inspired by xerography to translate sound into visual vibrations. The project integratesBlender and Grease Pencil.

La Isla Misteriosa - Studio Kimchi SL, CS Produçoes e Filmes LTDA, Cola Quente

The feature follows six orphaned girls who wake up on an island after a global catastrophe. In a pictorial ambience made in 3D, they must survive, rebuild their identity, and find meaning in their past. Loosely inspired by the novel of the same name by Julio Verne, this adaptation proposes a revision of the classic through the prism of feminism and environmental protection. Directed by Adrià García.
