JG Quintel Returns with 'Regular Show: The Lost Tapes' on Cartoon Network

Network will debut the new installment of its hit animated comedy franchise with a half-hour special launching globally May 11, followed by additional episodes and platform rollouts.

Cartoon Network has announced the return of its hit, fan-favorite animated comedy franchise Regular Show with a new series, Regular Show: The Lost Tapes, premiering globally with a half-hour special on May 11.

The new series, created by JG Quintel and produced by Cartoon Network Studios, continues to follow Mordecai and Rigby, best friends who live and work in a park where routine tasks frequently escalate into surreal and chaotic situations that disrupt their workplace and those around them.

Regular Show: The Lost Tapes will debut internationally on Cartoon Network and HBO Max on May 11, with a U.S. rollout on Cartoon Network the same day and subsequent availability on HBO Max and Hulu later in the year.

The show expands beyond broadcast with a six-week integration into Cartoon Network: Game On!, the network’s Roblox-based experience, where users can explore a dedicated Regular Show Island featuring locations from the show, character interactions, themed vehicles, and a rhythm mini-game titled “Mordecai & The Rigby’s: Rock Out.”

Regular Show has always been a cultural lightning bolt, defined by bold humor, unforgettable characters and a distinctive visual style,” said Vanessa Brookman, Warner Bros. Discovery GM, International Kids, Animation and Franchise. “Its return underscores our commitment to premium animation with global appeal. With Regular Show: The Lost Tapes, JG Quintel and the team honor the original’s legacy while introducing something fresh. We’re excited to bring Mordecai, Rigby and the gang back to audiences worldwide, while welcoming a new generation of fans.”

“Thank goodness JG works harder than Mordecai and Rigby, or we might have had to wait another nine years to see these characters again,” said Sam Register, President, Warner Bros. Animation, Cartoon Network Studios, Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe. “With Regular Show: The Lost Tapes, JG and his incredible team have delivered the same absurd humor and genuine heart that made Regular Show a classic. We're excited to welcome fans back to the park.”

Creator and executive producer JG Quintel said, “It’s been so much fun working with everyone on more Regular Show. We’re just making stuff for ourselves and trying to crack each other up. It reminds me a lot of the original run. I can’t wait for everyone to see it.”

Over its original eight-season run, Regular Show became a key title for Cartoon Network, reaching nearly 2.5 million weekly U.S. viewers at its peak in 2013 and averaging 4 million weekly viewers across EMEA territories, while continuing to perform strongly on streaming platforms and digital channels.

The franchise has also generated a feature-length film and received multiple awards and nominations, including a Primetime Emmy Award and recognition from the Annie Awards and BAFTA Children’s Awards.

Regular Show: The Lost Tapes is executive produced by Quintel, Sean Szeles, and Register, with Toby Jones serving as supervising director, Paula Spence as supervising art director, and Ryan Slater as producer. The voice cast includes Quintel, William Salyers, Sam Marin, Mark Hamill, Minty Lewis, and Janie Haddad Tompkins.
