Set in the animal world with a cast of bears, raccoons, deer, foxes and other ‘horny, lovable forest critters,’ and produced at Titmouse, the show will stream in 2026.
As Big Mouth fans wrap their addled minds around the sad fact that the show wraps its epic, 8-season Netflix run in just over three weeks, a new adult animated series, Mating Season, from the same “wild minds” at Brutus Pink that brought us Hormone Monsters, Shame Wizards and Anxiety Mosquitoes, is coming to the streamer in 2026. The show is set in the animal world and stars bears, raccoons, deer, foxes and a host of other “horny, lovable forest critters” as they navigate love, sexual relationships and the universal need to hook up and find a partner.
Bambi this aint.
Mating Season is created and executive produced by Mark Levin, Jennifer Flackett, Andrew Goldberg and Nick Kroll with Chris Prynoski, Shannon Prynoski, Antonio Canobbio and Ben Kalina serving as executive producers for Titmouse. No word yet on casting.
“Big Mouth broke new ground in the world of adult animation with heart, humor and total chaos — they took the awkwardness of adolescence and turned it into something universal and deeply human,” said John Derderian, Vice President, Animation Series, Netflix. “Working with Nick Kroll and the brilliant minds at Brutus Pink over the course of eight seasons has been legendary. Now, with Mating Season, they’ll bring that same bold and hilarious creativity into the animal kingdom. We’re beyond excited to unleash this next chapter together.”
The team at Brutus Pink shared, “After eight incredible seasons telling stories about growing up, we’re excited to tell stories about actual grown-ups. Who happen to be animals. Who are also cartoons.”
For Big Mouth fans, to celebrate the show’s final season debut on May 23, Kroll and the whole “gang” are taking the show on the road, rolling out across America to show off fresh new episodes, drop “sick” exclusive merchandise, stopping at places with names that’d make a hormone monster blush – like Cooter, Missouri, and Utah’s very own, The Phallus. Tickets are available here.
The Brutus Pink team added, “There is no better way to celebrate a global phenomenon like Big Mouth than driving a yellow van from Dallas to Tampa to Chicago and all points West. Honestly though, it is exciting to give audiences around the country the chance to get a special first peek at the final season of Big Mouth before it’s unleashed on the rest of the globe.”
According to Netflix, since Big Mouth’s 2017 debut, the show’s 71 episodes over seven seasons, nearly 2,000 minutes of runtime, have racked up over 375 million views.
The series earned Netflix its first Emmy nomination for Outstanding Animated Program, and also saw Maya Rudolph snag four Emmy wins for Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance for her portrayal of Connie the Hormone Monstress. Over its eight seasons, 222 guest stars have lent their voices to the show including Cynthia Erivo, Megan thee Stallion, Hugh Jackman, Jon Hamm, Kristen Wiig, Zach Galifianakis, Seth Rogen, Martin Short, Kristen Bell, Wanda Sykes, Tyler the Creator, Jeff Goldblum, Ira Glass, Steve Buscemi, Billy Porter, Padma Lakshmi, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan and Jean Smart.
The show has released 74 original songs, most notably “Totally Gay,” “Life is a F***ed Up Mess,” “Code Switching,” “Anything Goes in Florida,” “I Love My Body,” “Best Friends Make the Best Lovers,” and “Esperando Pelitos.”
