Prime Video Releases ‘The Mighty Nein’ First-Look Images

The all-new animated series from ‘The Legend of Vox Machina’s Critical Role and Titmouse, about a group of criminals and misfits who are the only ones that can prevent the kingdom of Exandria from plunging into chaos, streams November 19.

Prime Video has just dropped a set of first-look images from its highly anticipated new series, The Mighty Nein, from Critical Role and Titmouse, that debuts on November 19 in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.

According to the streamer, The Mighty Nein “follows a group of fugitives and outcasts, bound by secrets and scars. But when a powerful arcane relic known as ‘The Beacon’ falls into dangerous hands, they must learn to work together to save the realm of Exandria and stop reality itself from unraveling.”

The series is the first new project greenlit under Critical Role’s 2023 multiyear TV and first-look agreement signed with Amazon Studios in 2023. The Mighty Nein is based on Critical Role’s hugely successful second campaign of the “Dungeons & Dragons” web series that aired on Critical Role Productions' Twitch and YouTube channels. The series consisted of 141 episodes, plus a two-part special titled The Mighty Nein Reunited.

The show’s star-studded cast includes Mark Strong (Nine Perfect Strangers, 1917), Alan Cumming (The Traitors), Tim McGraw (The Blind Side, 1883), Anika Noni Rose (Princess and the Frog), Ming-Na Wen (The Mandalorian), Auli'i Cravalho (Moana), Rahul Kohli (iZombie), Robbie Daymond (Date Everything!), and Jonathan Frakes (Star Trek: The Next Generation).

  • Dairon: Dairon is an Expositor, a secret agent monk of the Cobalt Soul and martial arts expert. Direct and blunt, she becomes Beau's mentor and deepest source of intel.
  • Marion: Marion Lavorre, also known as the Ruby of the Sea, is an upscale courtesan and performer at the Lavish Chateau in Nicodranas. As Jester’s mother, she is warm and loving, but also overprotective and untrusting of the outside world.
  • Gustav Fletching: Circus ringmaster, Gustav Fletching, is the eccentric and beloved host of the Fletching and Moondrop Traveling Carnival of Curiosities. He has given a plethora of misfits and malcontents a home at the carnival, like his dear friend Mollymauk.
  • Vandran: Vandran is a stalwart, confident sea captain and father figure to Fjord. Commanding and firm, but understanding and nurturing when needed, he takes Fjord under his wing and teaches him how to be a true leader.
  • Trent Ikithon: Trent Ikithon is the Archmage of Civil Influence for the Cerberus Assembly and Caleb’s former manipulative school teacher. Secretly, Ikithon is the head of the Volstrucker, a team of elite wizard assassins that operate under the Empire.
  • Toya: Toya the Vivid Voice is a dramatic 13 year-old performer and tamer of Kylre, a ferocious Devil Toad. With the help of lumino beetles and the sound of her haunting voice, Kylre is precariously under her charm.

The Mighty Nein is an Amazon MGM Studios, Critical Role, and Titmouse production for Prime Video. The series stars Critical Role founders and cast members Laura Bailey (The Last of Us: Part II), Taliesin Jaffe (World of Warcraft), Ashley Johnson (The Last of Us), Liam O’Brien (Marvel’s Avengers), Matthew Mercer (Baldur’s Gate 3), Marisha Ray (Fallout 76), Sam Riegel (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), and Travis Willingham (Marvel's Avengers). The Critical Role cast serves as executive producers alongside Tasha Huo (Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft) who also serves as showrunnerChris Prynoski (Metalocalypse), Shannon Prynoski (Fairfax), Antonio Canobbio (Star Trek: Lower Decks), and Ben Kalina (Big Mouth).
