Paramount Pictures reveals the next installment in the ‘Sonic’ film franchise with a title video and cast announcement that were short on story clues but revealing none-the-less; in theaters March 19, 2027.
Paramount Pictures has just dropped a video title reveal and cast announcement for Sonic the Hedgehog 4, which opens in theaters on March 19, 2027, marking the next installment in the studio’s film franchise based on the blue blur and his Sega video game.
The cast includes Jim Carrey, Ben Schwartz, Kristen Bell, Idris Elba, Keanu Reeves, James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Ben Kingsley, Matt Berry, Colleen O’Shaughnessey, Lee Majdoub, Nick Offerman, and Richard Ayoade. Jeff Fowler returns as director; Neal H. Moritz, Toby Ascher, and Toru Nakahara return as producers.
Production on the film began March 2; no plot details have been disclosed, but we’re assuming from this new trailer that Dr. Robotnik and Shadow will return, and that Amy Rose and Metal Sonic, who were teased in Sonic 3, will appear. And Chaos Emeralds will play a role in the story… And Dr. Robotnik’s outrageous moustache appears unscathed.
The film follows Sonic the Hedgehog 3, released in 2024, which was the highest grossing entry among the first three films in the series.
