CC0 Studios and The Hive Studio launch new series, which follows a mid-20s man-child who explores what it means to grow up while being terminally online.
TikTok star Charlie Curtis-Beard (The Warehouse Phase) will lead the cast of The Normal MFer, an upcoming adult animated series created by CC0 Studios founder Joe McNaney and showrunner Alex Orrelle (Finding Nemo, The Incredibles).
The series follows a mid-20s man-child adrift in a surreal, algorithm-driven reality, exploring what it means to grow up while being terminally online.
The show’s aesthetic is minimalist and web-inspired, with glitchy visuals and soundscapes that shift between lo-fi calm and EDM chaos. Beneath the jokes and memes, The Normal MFer tackles loneliness, stasis, toxic masculinity, and the fear that no one is truly getting better — only better at pretending.
Joining Curtis-Beard on the voice cast are Ryan Bartley, Rick Zieff, and Emma Steiger. The music includes contributions from indie artists, with original tracks by Ritviz, Brevin Kim, Myles Lloyd, Cherry Ferrari, Charlie Curtis-Beard, and Kennyflowers.
“The Normal MFer is the show we wish we had in our twenties — absurd, heartfelt, and painfully accurate,” said Orrelle. “It’s about growing up in a world that keeps moving the goal posts, and still trying to make peace with who you are. Making it with the brilliant weirdos at CC0 Studios has been a hilarious and deeply personal ride.”
“The team is super excited to work on this unique and original content,” added Amit Russell Gicelter, Founder/CEO of The Hive Studio. “We believe that this show speaks to a Gen-z audience that needs content that they can relate to and developing it with CC0 studios and Alex Orrelle as showrunner has been an incredible inspiring indie adventure!”
Writers include Jennifer Skelly, Yotam Perel, YouTuber @lazypillow, Alexandra Shields, and Yair Vurnbrand. CC0 Studios produces, with animation by The Hive Studio.
The series is also available to collect onchain via Zora on Coinbase's Layer 2, Base.
