Warner Bros.’ ‘The Cat in the Hat’ Delayed

Theatrical release of the studio’s animated adaptation of the iconic Dr. Seuss kids’ book has been pushed from February 27, 2026 to November 6, 2026, to take better advantage of the holiday season and merchandising opportunities.

Warner Bros. Pictures Animation has just shared that its upcoming animated comedy adventure, The Cat in the Hat, will now hit theaters on November 6, 2026, rather than the previously announced February 27, 2026 release date.

The film, written and directed by Alessandro Carloni and Erica Rivinoja, stars Bill Hader (Barry) as The Cat, alongside Quinta Brunson (Abbott Elementary), Bowen Yang (SNL), Xochitl Gomez (Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness), Matt Berry (What We Do in The Shadows) and Paula Pell (Girls5eva).

The studio stated that the film, the first to release under the newly relaunched Warner Bros. Pictures Animation, is an all-audience movie, and the November date offers a long runway for extended playability. The November release also allows the studio to take advantage of a historically strong global day and date release at a time when kids / families are readily available. The studio also stated that the holiday timeframe provides for robust merchandising and partnership programs, all of which will only further reinforce the cultural ubiquity of this film.

The film is described as follows: Meet the Cat in the Hat you don’t know! In the wonderfully whimsical tradition of Dr. Seuss, The Cat in the Hat, voiced by Bill Hader, comes to the big screen in his animated theatrical feature film debut, an all-new, epic adventure where mischief, magic and mayhem reign supreme.
