Indie studio expands its podcast-driven IP strategy into animation with the launch of a dedicated kids YouTube platform and the premiere of its first animated show.
Independent mini-studio Wonkybot Entertainment has launched Wonkybot Kids, a YouTube hub designed to house the company’s expanding slate of family-focused animated properties. The launch includes a trailer previewing upcoming projects marking the studio’s expansion from podcast production into animation.
Leading the rollout is BLISS, a short-form preschool animated series created by Wonkybot CEO and co-founder Stewart St John. The series premiered March 6 on its own dedicated BLISS YouTube channel and on the Wonkybot Kids platform.
Inspired by the Wonkybot podcast Following Bliss, BLISS follows Bliss the Friendly Fairy, who lives in Sparkle Forest with her wand Wandie and unicorn companion Starlight. The series centers on musical adventures in which the titular character helps friends and creatures while emphasizing kindness, confidence, and individuality. The production is animated by the studio’s Wonkybot Animation division.
The launch of Wonkybot Kids signals the studio’s expansion with a direct-to-audience platform that develops company-owned intellectual property across multiple media formats. “We’ve spent years creating and retaining ownership of our original characters through podcast storytelling,” said St John. “Wonkybot Kids is the natural next step — bringing those worlds to life visually while building a central home for our growing catalog.”
“The media landscape is changing rapidly, and independent creators now have tools to build global franchises from the ground up,” St John added. “By owning our IP and developing it across multiple formats, we’re able to move faster, stay nimble and ensure the stories remain consistent with the worlds we’ve created.”
Wonkybot has previously expanded its podcast franchise Tara Tremendous into live concert performances featuring Annie Golden, Kecia Lewis and Micky Dolenz, with original songs by Stewart St John and Michael Plahuta. The property is also being developed as a book series and a live-action feature film.
Additional projects previewed in the Wonkybot Kids trailer include Spooky Troop Mysteries, based on the podcast Spooky Troop; Young Tara Tremendous, exploring early adventures within the Tara Tremendous universe; Drew Draws, a preschool series about a boy whose marker brings drawings to life; and Chase in Space, centered on a tween bellhop working in an intergalactic hotel. St John writes and directs the studio’s projects and works with co-producers Todd Fisher and Michael Plahuta on development and production.
Wonkybot launched Wonkybot Kids on YouTube as a direct-to-audience platform. With a growing catalog of original IP and an in-house animation pipeline, the company is exploring additional partnerships and distribution opportunities across streaming, licensing, and international markets.
