VFX supervisor and Oscar-nominee Michael Ralla discusses the challenges of ‘twinning’ brothers Smoke and Stack, both played by Michael B. Collaborators Jonathan Rothbart, Janelle Croshaw Ralla, and Michael Ralla talk incendiary shotgun shells, a blind assassin’s eyeballs, a CG dog, and hundreds of ring finger removals, on Chad Stahelski and Lionsgate’s shoot ‘em up in volume action-adventure.
The studio delivered almost 400 visual effects shots, with its London facility producing a single 10-minute sequence and Montreal facility creating a range of sequences, including full water simulations, integrating CG ships, digi-doubles and a helicopter crashing into the ocean.
