The veteran VFX creative joins the studio after leading projects at Framestore, Method Studios and MPC, and will oversee work on an upcoming Warner Bros. feature.
The Oscar-nominated screenwriter will make his directorial debut in the yet unnamed live-action film that tells the tale of a woman investigating a mystery that took place during a week she cannot remember.
From fiery photorealistic oil rig disasters and fractal geometry-based inter-dimensional mind-bending psychic excursions, to a digitally recreated Carrie Fisher as young Princes Leia, this year’s crop of ten best visual effects productions presented at the Motion Picture Academy represent another reminder of the breadth, depth and range of creative artistry and talent within the industry.
Working alongside production VFX supervisor Erik Nordby, MPC VFX supervisor Pete Dionne and VFX producer Tomi Nieminen oversaw a team of around 600 artists to create more than 1,100 shots for director Morten Tyldum’s space adventure.
