The hit anime’s 10-episode second season will feature a new chapter of redemption and revenge when it premieres on Netflix in Fall 2026.
Netflix has released the official teaser and new images ahead of its Fall 2026 premiere of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners II, revealing a new standalone 10-episode story set in Night City within the world of Cyberpunk 2077.
Rather than continuing the original series’ David arc, the streamer shared that the new season is “a raw chronicle of redemption and revenge. In a city that thrives in the spotlight of violence, the story centers on one question: when the world is blinded by spectacle, what extremes do you have to go to make your story matter?”
Bartosz Sztybor serves as showrunner on Season 2, with animation by Studio TRIGGER.
Head into the dystopia once more:
Back in 2020, Netflix signed a deal with CD Projekt Red and Studio TRIGGER for the first 10-episode season of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, an anime series set in the same universe as the Cyberpunk 2077 game. Season 1, now streaming on Netflix, tells the story of Lucy, a brilliant and skilled netrunner and an important member of Maine’s mercenary crew. Despite her highly sought-after technical abilities, she wants nothing more than to escape Night City and her dangerous past. A street kid trying to survive in a technology- and body modification-obsessed city of the future riddled with corruption and cybernetic implants, she chooses to stay alive by becoming an edgerunner, an outlaw also known as a cyberpunk. CD Projekt Red had been developing the original series since 2018.
Rafał Jaki served as showrunner and executive producer on the first season, with Satoru Homma, Bartosz Sztybor and Saya Elder serving as producers. Hiroyuki Imaishi directed, working with creative director Hiromi Wakabayashi; character designer and animation director Yoh Yoshinari; adapted screenplay writers Yoshiki Usa and Masahiko Otsuka; and original score composer Akira Yamaoka.
The first 10-episode standalone season premiered on Netflix in September 2022 and won Anime of the Year at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards. A live-action version of the show, produced by CD Project Red and Anonymous Content, was announced back in 2023.
