Crunchyroll Drops ‘Witch Hat Atelier’ Anime Series Trailer

New footage introduces additional main characters, voice cast and music details for the upcoming adaptation of Kamome Shirahama’s award-winning manga.

A new trailer has been released for Crunchyroll’s upcoming anime series, Witch Hat Atelier, based on the popular manga created by Kamome Shirahama. The show is directed by Ayumu Watanabe, with music composed by Yuka Kitamura and animation produced by BUG FILMS.

The series is one of four being teased with a one-day Crunchyroll Anime Nights SNEAK PEEK theatrical preview release, set select theaters in the U.S. and Canada on Monday, March 16 at 7PM (local time).  The special screenings give anime fans the chance to see never-before-seen episodes of upcoming series before they debut on Crunchyroll in April. Alongside Witch Hat Atelier, Daemons of the Shadow Realm, Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- Season 4, and The Drops of God will be showcased.

According to the streamer, the series is set in a world where only witches can cast magic, and they must avoid being seen by ordinary people while casting. While Coco does her chores, she daydreams of becoming a witch. When a young witch named Qifrey visits her village, Coco uncovers the “absolute secret,” becomes Qifrey’s apprentice, and begins her studies. The story follows children who encounter despair and reach toward hope.

We get our first glimpse at additional main characters Agott, Tetia, Richeh and Olruggio, along with their voice cast, which includes Hibiku Yamamura as Agott, Kurumi Haruki as Tetia, Hika Tsukishiro as Richeh, Yuichi Nakamura as Olruggio, Misaki Kuno as Brushbuddy and Mitsuki Saiga as Iguin. Main cast members include Rena Motomura as Coco and Natsuki Hanae as Qifrey.

The trailer also previews the opening theme song, “Kaze no Ansemu feat. suis from Yorushika” by Eve (TOY’S FACTORY) and the ending theme “Tada Utsukushii Noroi” by Nakamura Hak. New character visuals have also been revealed for Agott, Tetia, Richeh and Olruggio.

Witch Hat Atelier is based on the ongoing manga series created by Shirahama, which began serialization by Kodansha in 2016 and has sold more than seven million copies worldwide, earning international awards including the Eisner Award and Harvey Award.
