The hit show returns to Hulu with exclusive Halloween and holiday specials this year; the ‘Succession’ star takes on Beelzebub and Peter Griffin doesn’t take too kindly to losing the Official Santa competition.
Family Guy will return to Hulu this year with exclusive Halloween and holiday specials, including Kieran Culkin guest voicing as the Devil in the Halloween special “Happy Hell-o-ween.” Executive producer and showrunner Rich Appel revealed the news July 25 during the Family Guy San Diego Comic-Con panel, where he was joined by stars Alex Borstein, Arif Zahir and Jennifer Tilly, along with co-executive producer and supervising director Peter Shin.
In “Happy Hell-o-ween,” Brian and Stewie find themselves in Hell — not an annoying day, but the actual underworld — paying for 24 seasons’ worth of bad behavior. When they manage to annoy even the Devil himself, they end up in charge. Having danced with any number of devils on Succession, Culkin now gets to play the Devil himself in the special.
The holiday special, “The Peter Clause,” takes place at Christmas in Quahog, where Peter and the guys compete to become the town’s official Santa. After Peter loses, he can either process his disappointment maturely or give fans a memorable episode of Family Guy. He chooses the second option.
The specials will also stream exclusively on Disney+ in most international markets. Season 25 of Family Guy returns to FOX in 2027 and will stream on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ for bundle subscribers in the U.S. No premiere dates have been announced.
Family Guy follows the adventures of the Griffin family in Quahog, Rhode Island, where endearingly ignorant Peter and his stay-at-home wife, Lois, live with their children Meg, Chris and Stewie, along with Brian, the family’s talking dog. Meg is a social outcast, Chris is awkward and clueless about the opposite sex, Stewie is a genius baby bent on killing his mother and destroying the world, and Brian keeps Stewie in check while sipping martinis and sorting through his own issues.
The voice cast includes Seth MacFarlane, Alex Borstein, Seth Green, Mila Kunis, Mike Henry, Patrick Warburton and Arif Zahir.
Since its debut in 1999, Family Guy has reached cult status among fans, and its breakout talking baby character has become one of television’s best-known animated characters. The series has received numerous awards and nominations, including an Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Comedy Series, making it the second animated series in television history to receive that distinction.
MacFarlane, the series creator and lead voice actor behind Peter Griffin, Stewie Griffin, Brian Griffin and Glenn Quagmire, was nominated for the 2021 Emmy Award for Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance and won the award in 2016, 2017 and 2019. He was also nominated in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2018. Borstein, who voices Lois Griffin, won the same award in 2018 and was nominated in 2013, 2019, 2023 and 2024.
Family Guy is produced by 20th Television Animation. MacFarlane is creator and executive producer. Appel and Alec Sulkin serve as executive producers and showrunners, with Steve Callaghan, Danny Smith, Kara Vallow, Mark Hentemann, Patrick Meighan and Alex Carter also serving as executive producers.
