Netflix Drops ‘Stranger Things: Tales From ’85’ Trailer and Images

All-new animated series returns fans to Hawkins during the winter of 1985 to face something terrifying beneath the ice; debuts on April 23.

Netflix has just dropped a trailer, key art and new images, which can find below, from its upcoming 10-episode animated series, Stranger Things: Tales From '85, which debuts on April 23.

The show, led by showrunner Eric Robles and executive produced by Matt and Ross Duffer, revisits the core group of Stranger Things characters including Eleven, Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas, and Max during the winter of 1985. In the series, snow blankets the town and the horrors of the Upside Down are finally fading. Our heroes Eleven, Mike, Will, Dustin, Lucas, and Max have settled back into a normal life of D&D, snowball fights, and quiet days. But beneath the ice, something terrifying has awakened. Could it be from the Upside Down? From the depths of Hawkins Lab? Or from somewhere else entirely? Our heroes must race to solve this mystery and save Hawkins in this new story set in the Stranger Things universe.

Here’s our first real peek:

Robles has previously shared that the series allows for deeper exploration of the characters’ experiences within the established timeline. He noted that the animated format enables stories that heighten the sense of danger and expand on moments not fully explored in the original series.

The voice cast includes Brooklyn Davey Norstedt, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport, Luca Diaz, Elisha EJ Williams, Braxton Quinney, and Benjamin Plessala, alongside Brett Gipson, Jeremy Jordan, Odessa A’zion, Janeane Garofalo, and Lou Diamond Phillips.

Production is handled by Flying Bark Productions, with executive producers including the Duffer Brothers and Hilary Leavitt via Upside Down Pictures, Shawn Levy via 21 Laps, and Dan Cohen.

Set within the broader Stranger Things universe, the new show continues the franchise’s expansion outside the original Netflix live-action series, including live events, publishing, and immersive experiences.’
