‘The Simpsons’ Writer Dan McGrath Passes at 61

The award-winning creative, also known for his work on ‘Saturday Night Live’ and ‘King of the Hill,’ passed away Friday in Brooklyn after suffering a stroke.

Award-winning writer and producer Dan McGrath (The Simpsons, King of the Hill) passed away Friday in Brooklyn after suffering a stroke. He was 61 years old. McGrath’s sister Gail McGrath Garabadian posted the sad news on Facebook, sharing, “We lost my incredible brother Danny yesterday. He was a special man, one of a kind. An incredible son, brother, uncle and friend. Our hearts are broken.”

McGrath began his career writing and editing for “The Harvard Lampoon” before becoming a writer for Staurday Night Live in 1991. After two seasons with the show, the creative wrote for The Simpsons from 1994-1994 and then for King of the Hill from 2002-2010. His other credits include Muppets Tonight, Gravity Falls, Sammy, Mission Hill and The PJs.

McGrath is survived by his mother, siblings, nieces, and nephews. Donations in his memory can be made to Regis High School in Manhattan, which he attended before Harvard University.
