Well, the wait isn’t over… but it is a bit longer. The third film in Sony Pictures Animation’s fan-favorite web-slinging animated Spidey trilogy, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, will now hit theaters June 25, 2027, according to Deadline.
The series began with the genre-shattering, Oscar-winning 2018 Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, followed by the Oscar-nominated Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse in 2023. Created and produced by Lord and his producing partner, Christopher Miller, the increasingly successful franchise has generated more than $1 billion at the box office.
The upcoming installment finds Morales on the run without his friends to save him.
Lord and Miller co-write (along with David Callaham) and produce alongside Amy Pascal, Avi Arad, and Jinko Gotoh. Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson direct.
