Warner Bros. has tapped Jorge R. Gutiérrez (Maya and the Three, El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera, The Book of Life) to direct a Speedy Gonzales animated feature, AWN has confirmed with the director after it was first posted by The Hollywood Reporter.

The sometimes controversial Looney Tunes personality first debuted in the 1950s, and is known for his speed, wit, and charm. Gabriel Iglesias voiced the mighty mouse in the recent Space Jam: A New Legacy.
