Eligible entries include devices, methods, formulas, discoveries, and inventions of outstanding value to moviemaking; must be received by July 24.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced that submissions for the 2026 Scientific and Technical Awards (Sci-Tech Awards) are now open. The submission deadline is July 24.
The Scientific and Technical Awards honor individuals and companies whose discoveries and innovations have contributed in significant and lasting ways to motion pictures. Eligible submissions include devices, methods, formulas, discoveries, and inventions of outstanding value to moviemaking.
In August, the Academy will announce the list of scientific and technical investigations that will be conducted this year. At that time, individuals and companies with devices or claims of innovation within these areas will have the opportunity to submit additional entries for consideration.
The Scientific and Technical Awards Executive Committee will meet in the fall to vote on recommendations to the Academy’s Board of Governors, which will make the final awards decisions.
The Scientific and Technical Awards Presentation will be held April 28, 2026.
