New tier adds studio-controlled licensing, project management and governance tools for high-end media production, giving pipeline supervisors control over which AI models artists use; studios can run workflows on-premises or in private cloud infrastructure to keep sensitive IP, prompts and training data inside the facility.
Foundry has launched Griptape Enterprise, a new tier of its Griptape AI workflow orchestration platform designed to bring secure, professional-grade AI-accelerated workflows to high-end media production.
The update adds studio-controlled licensing and expanded project management capabilities, allowing pipeline supervisors to curate which models artists use so workflows remain vetted, compliant and production-ready. Studios can run Griptape Enterprise within on-premises or private cloud infrastructure, keeping sensitive IP, prompt inputs and private training data inside the facility.
Foundry also appointed Kyle Roche as chief AI officer to guide its next-generation technology development, including Foundry Research initiatives. Roche, Griptape co-founder and former CEO, joined Foundry in February 2026 following the company’s acquisition of the AI orchestration platform.
“Foundry has been a trusted technology partner to visual effects and animation studios for over 30 years,” Roche said. “With the new Griptape Enterprise license tier, Foundry is shepherding high-end creative teams into AI-enhanced production in a safe and secure way—with artistry and craft at its core. While studios are navigating how best to integrate AI models with bespoke platforms and workarounds, we’re pleased to offer Griptape as a highly customizable and safe off-the-shelf alternative.”
Built on a Python-based architecture, Griptape enables artists and studios to orchestrate multiple AI models and agents across the pipeline, from creative workflows to technical tasks such as data and metadata management. Griptape Enterprise adds studio governance, production-driven pipeline automation and commercially cleared infrastructure intended to meet security and legal compliance demands.
Key Enterprise tier features include:
- Enterprise Governance and Infrastructure Control: Studios run Griptape on-premises within their network security perimeter, keeping sensitive IP, prompt inputs, and private training data inside the facility. Centrally managed unlimited licensing and permissions control how artists and automated workloads can access AI models and software features, keeping environments aligned with studio standards.
Key Griptape updates:
- Studio-Grade Plate and Colour Management: Griptape understands image sequences the way industry-standard production tools like Nuke do, and Griptape’s OpenColorIO library brings color management in line with the rest of the pipeline.
- Show-Ready Projects: Templates define project workspaces, libraries, versioning, and naming conventions. Library versions pin per show or per shot, so each production keeps its approved toolset and reopens reliably even as the pipeline moves on.
- Nuke Integration: TDs build a workflow in Griptape, expose the controls artists need, and publish it into the pipeline as a versioned Nuke gizmo. Griptape workflows can also run Nuke scripts headlessly as part of a larger AI pipeline.
- Agentic Automation: The built-in AI assistant accelerates artist work in Griptape, with the choice of local or cloud LLMs. MCP server lets AI agents pilot Griptape at scale, and AI coding skills, the same Foundry uses internally, let studios rapidly build their own trusted node libraries.
- Modular Diffusion Pipelines: Griptape breaks image and video generation into stages that artists can rearrange, chain, and refine, rather than a single fixed generate step. Models like FLUX, Stable Diffusion XL, LTX, and WAN run locally on studio GPUs.
