Black Eye Technologies Launches Black Eye 2.0 for Unreal Engine

New release of dynamic camera system designed to give UE teams modular, adaptable tools for gameplay, cinematics, marketing content, virtual production, and in-engine storytelling is now available.

Black Eye Technologies has just launched Black Eye 2.0, a major new release of its dynamic camera system built exclusively for Unreal Engine and designed to help teams create dynamic, directable cameras that adapt intelligently to gameplay and scene changes without rebuilding camera logic from scratch.

The company notes that Black Eye 2.0 addresses a growing production challenge as games and real-time experiences become increasingly cinematic and camera systems become more difficult to build, tune, and maintain. Gameplay cameras are often tied to fragile custom code, while cinematic cameras can break when animation, timing, or scene layouts change during production.

Founded by Adam Myhill and Gerald Orban, the team behind Cinemachine, Black Eye Technologies is bringing its camera-system experience to Unreal Engine developers seeking more flexible and production-ready camera tools.

"Cameras are the viewport to the experience," said Myhill. "But for most teams, cinematic cameras mean endless keyframes that break the moment things change and gameplay cameras are these giant, fragile ball of code systems that are complicated to build and maintain. We built Black Eye 2.0 to solve that. It gives Unreal Engine teams a much faster, more powerful way to create great cameras in any project. Small teams can now punch way above their weight in camera work. Good cameras make great projects."

Black Eye 2.0 expands presentation capabilities with a redesigned workflow and a new suite of gameplay-focused systems, including orbit cameras, collision handling, camera blending, trigger-driven camera changes, priorities, and a high-level camera manager. The unified camera system is designed for gameplay, cinematics, marketing content, virtual production, and in-engine storytelling workflows.

Black Eye 2.0 is now available on Fab.com. More information is available here.
