Proof Shares ‘Wheel of Time’ Season 3 Postvis Reel

The studio delivered 35 minutes of visualization across all 8 episodes using a unique Sketchvis pipeline to create the ‘channeling’ of different powers before final effects were in place.

Proof has shared with AWN and VFXWorld a postvis reel showcasing their work on Season 3 of the Prime Video series Wheel of Time. Led by Proof Visualization Supervisor, Steve Harrison, the studio delivered more than 35 minutes of stylized visualization across all 8 episodes, employing a unique Sketchvis pipeline to help create the “channeling” of different powers before final effects were in place. The work, all done with a “nimble” team of six artists, closely matched what fans saw in the finished episodes.

According to Harrison, their workflow melded the hand-drawn feel of 2D artwork with 3D execution using Maya and Nuke. Rather than simply visualizing effects, Proof created stylized sequences that helped production visualize complex channeling powers, each color-coded and choreographed to match the narrative’s elemental magic. These sequences enhanced the storytelling and provided the VFX teams at Framestore and DNEG with an elevated visual roadmap.

Proof worked daily with the production team and VFX supervisor Andy Scrase to solve highly conceptual challenges, from designing serpentine and corkscrew movement patterns for spells to simulating flipping shots and water-parting effects. Ultimately, Proof’s ability to step beyond previs and postvis into effect design and movement development made them a creative partner, enhancing in-camera performances and helping shape the visual language of the series.
